For decades the Wooly Pully has been a core staple of British elite forces. From its heavy rib knit to its reinforced elbows and shoulders, this classic style is widely renowned for its comfort, warmth and long wearing durability.
Versatility and style
We evolved the basic design with an Active Fit for a sleek look that layers easily under a jacket or wears well as a casual outerlayer around the city. We also wanted to increase the overall versatility of the piece so you could wear it in more situations. We transformed the Wooly Pully with a front zip so you can ventilate when you’re working hard or when conditions are moderate. We also upgraded the traditional material to 100% Merino Wool, and are offering it this season in Loden Heather Green in addition to Charcoal Heather Grey.
Hard working and adaptive fabric
Merino has a unique ability to regulate body temperature. During exertion or warm weather, it wicks away moisture from your body and releases it on the surface. This evaporation mechanism has a cooling effect, enhancing comfort while keeping you dry. To help you stay warm in cold weather, the air pockets in the Merino fiber trap body heat to provide insulation. This adaptive capability makes the Special Service Sweater highly flexible, important if you need to count on a small set of gear to handle unpredictable conditions. Merino is also naturally fire retardant, providing a measure of assurance when outdoors or in the field.
Stands up to extended use scenarios
For those engaged in extended travel, outdoor exploration or time in the field, you need to rely on gear that puts few demands on you. Merino has a high warmth-to-weight ratio, making it packable and unobtrusive when moving light and fast. It also does not retain odors, giving you more uses between laundering than other fabrics. Unlike synthetics which can trap odor despite washing, Merino readily sheds odor when laundered.
